Dont’ Kill Your Tender Heart
The guiding motif of my work is the radical idea of not killing the tender heart. This theme is woven into each of my pieces, whether in watercolor paintings, installation, or performative pieces that explore what separates us from the world and what brings us closer together. I investigate our motivations for action and how they might evolve (for example in the work Cocoon, where the tender heart finds a place of refuge). This work is particularly significant because it integrates various forms of expression, including painting, installation, performance, and video.
As I navigate between Germany and Spain, I am constantly reflecting on our relationship with nature and the natural world. In an era where growth and wealth are often quantified through numbers, and where conflicts are waged against marginalized groups, I refuse to close myself off from the harsh realities we face. At the same time, I do not want to shut my heart to the potential for alternative solutions. I believe that art has a vital role in fostering a different perspective—not as a naive utopia, but as a representation of our interconnectedness with the world, with one another, and with ourselves.
Resilience does not equate to having a heart of stone. Rather, it involves carrying a heart that is carried in our hands, on our lips, and in our eyes, one that can make our knees tremble. It is a heart that doesn't only resent the world, but also yearns for transformation—radically and fully.
